Three Nazareth College visual communication design students win ADDY Awards

Three Nazareth College Visual Communication Design students won awards at the Rochester Advertising Federation's annual Addy Awards competition. Student Ashley Neal was awarded a gold Addy and cash scholarship for her Owl Company Rum Packaging Design; Desiree Moore was awarded a silver Addy for her Stephen King Movie Poster Series; and Mary Bonomo was awarded a silver Addy for her Hutch Milk Packaging and Branding in the Student Category. The RAF Addy Awards are part of the national American Advertising Federation professional competition, and are judged anonymously outside of the Rochester market. These students' submissions were judged in New York City.

The Nazareth College Department of Music's Wind Symphony, conducted by assistant professor Jared Chase, will present its season-ending recital, OF THIS EARTH, featuring student Nick Sutton, winner of the College's Wind Symphony Concerto Competition. This performance is free and open to the public.

The Nazareth College Department of Art's annual juried Student Art Show, featuring the work of more than 60 undergraduate students and Art Education graduate students, is on display in the department's two galleries through April 19, 2015.

Nazareth College Department of Music's Symphony Orchestra presents CREATING THE IMPRESSION on Friday, April 10

Students in the Nazareth College Department of Music's Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of assistant professor Nancy Strelau, present CREATING THE IMPRESSION Friday, April 10. In addition to nearly 75 student musicians, the performance will feature student conductor S. SHADE ZAJAC. The concert takes place Friday, April 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the College's Linehan Chapel. The evening's program will feature works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, John Williams, and Ottorino Resphigi. This event is free and open to the public.

Students in the Nazareth College Department of Music's Chamber Singers and Concert Choir will team up to present EVERYTHING MOZART on Sunday, April 19, at 3 p.m. in the Linehan Chapel. The concert will be conducted by Nazareth faculty Mark Zeigler, Rebecca English, and Brian Stevens, and will feature "Regina Coeli, K. 276;" "Ave Verum Corpus, K. 618;" "Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, K. 339;" and "Coronation Mass in C Major, K. 317." This program is free and open to the public.

Students in the Nazareth College Department of Music's Campus Band, Wind Symphony, and Wind Ensemble will team up to present OF THIS EARTH on Sunday, April 12, at 3 p.m. in the Linehan Chapel. In addition to nearly 75 student musicians, the performance will feature two student conductors: NICOLE DARLING and RAHMY ELTOURY.

Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department to present THE SECRET GARDEN April 10-19

The Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department and Theatre League are pleased to present THE SECRET GARDEN, the fourth and final show in the department's 2014-2015 production season. The show runs April 10, 11, 17, and 18 at 8 p.m.; and April 12 and 19 at 2 p.m., in the Callahan Theater at Nazareth College Arts Center, and features an all-student cast and crew, as well as student musicians in the orchestra.

Maurice Mills and Dan Morse, member of Nazareth College's men's basketball team, are honored with Empire 8 Conference honors. Mills is recognized on the Empire 8 Conference men's basketball all-star team. Morse is Nazareth's representative as Empire 8 Sportsman of the Year.

Members of Nazareth College's Men's Ice Hockey Team Earns Athletic Honors

Brandon Lane is the Eastern College Athletic Conference West Goalie of the Week for the period ending February 21. Lane made a career-high 27 goals to enable the Golden Flyers to gain a 1-1 tie with conference rival Utica. Don Olivieri is a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference West Honor Roll after scoring Nazareth's lone goal against Utica.

Members of Nazareth College's women's basketball team earns athletic honors for the Empire 8 Conference. Veronica Peck is named to the Empire 8 Conference all-star team for women's basketball with teammate Lindsey Kelly. Melissa Reeves is Nazareth's representative as Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year.

Members of Nazareth College's track and field team earns athletic honors for the Empire 8 Conference. Nick LaBarbera is the Empire 8 Track Athlete of the Week, Brandon Vuolo is the Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Week and Taylor Pierson is the women's Field Athlete of the Week.

Ashley Kirch Earns Athletic Honor at Nazareth College

Ashley Kirch, member of Nazareth College's women's lacrosse team, is the Empire 8 Conference Goalie of the Week for the period ending March 29. Kirch helped the Golden Flyers to a pair of conference victories as she totaled 11 saves in two games. She has started all nine games in goal for the Golden Flyers and has 62 saves and a .456 save percentage.

Tim Zyburt Earns Athletic Honor at Nazareth College

Tim Zyburt, member of Nazareth College's men's volleyball team, is the United Volleyball Conference co-Player of the Week for the period ending March 29. Zyburt had a .446 hitting percentage (33-4-65) in two matches, which included a match-high of 19 kills and a .515 hitting percentage in a win over NYU. He had 14 kills, seven digs and three blocks in a win over MIT.

Kate Rothrock, member of the women's lacrosse team, is one of Nazareth College's Athletes of the Week for the period ending March 30. Rothrock helped Nazareth improve to 7-2 overall as she tallied 10 points on four goals and six assists in three games.

Troy Haefele, member of the men's lacrosse team, is one of Nazareth College's Athletes of the Week for the period ending March 30. Haefele helped the Golden Flyers to a pair of Empire 8 Conference wins as he totaled 14 points on 10 goals and four assists. He also reached career goal No. 100 during these games.

Luis Rivera Earns Athletic Honors at Nazareth College

Luis Rivera, member of the men's track and field team, is one of Nazareth College's Athletes of the Week for the period ending March 16. Rivera is also the Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 8 as well as the Empire 8 Co-Field Athlete of the Year. Lastly, he earned All-American honors in weight throw at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Maurice Mills, member of the men's basketball team, is named to the All-East Region team by D3hoops.com. Mills finished second in the Empire 8 Conference in both scoring (18.5 ppg) and rebounding (10.5 per game) while leading the league in blocked shots at 2.2 per game.

Nick LaBarbera, member of the men's track and field team, is one of Nazareth College's Athletes of the Week for the period ending March 2. He was named Rookie of the Meet after posting a record-breaking time of 1:05.58 to win the 500-meter dash at the NYSCTC Championships at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Sophia Rhoades Named One of Nazareth College's Athletes of the Week

Sophie Rhoades, member of Nazareth College's softball team, is one of the College's Athletes of the Week for the period ending March 16. Rhoades helped the Golden Flyers to a 6-4 start and a current five-game winning streak by batting .484 in 10 games during spring break. She also had three extra-base hits, five RBIs and a .581 slugging percentage.

Haley DeVona Earns Athletic Honors at Nazareth College

Haley DeVona, member of the women's lacrosse team, is one of Nazareth College's Athletes of the Week for the period ending March 9 and is the Empire 8 Conference Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week for the period ending March 8. DeVona scored four goals in her first collegiate game, which included the game-winning goal with :20 left in overtime.

Nicole Bayona, member of Nazareth College's softball team, is the Empire 8 Conference Pitcher of the Week for the period ending March 8. Bayona made five pitching appearances during spring break and compiled a 3-1 record while allowing just one earned run over 28 innings.

Mitch Ford, member of the men's basketball team, is recognized on the D3hoops.com all-east region team as a second-team selection. Ford, member of Nazareth College's men's basketball team, led the Empire 8 Conference with a 21.4 points per game scoring average while also averaging 9.5 rebounds, shooting 49.7% from the field, and shooting 73.4% from the free throw line.
