Ben Blasko Earns ECAC West Honor Roll Honors

Ben Blasko, member of the men's ice hockey team, has earned Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West Honor Roll Honors. Blasko started strong this season as he equaled a school record with four assists. Three of the assists came in a four-goal third period when the Golden Flyers were padding their lead. The last two came in a 25-second span on a pair of power play goals by his teammate.

Kimberly Pedrotti Earns Empire 8 Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week Honors

Kimberly Pedrotti, member of the women's swimming and diving team, has earned Empire 8 Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week Honors for the period ending November 2, 2014. Pedrotti won three events for the Nazareth women's team in a 163-135 loss to Brockport. She won the 800-meter freestyle (10:00.56), the 200 meter IM (2:39.04) and the 200-meter butterfly (2:40.35). In addition, she was part of Nazareth's 200-meter medley relay that placed second in 2:14.48.

Ed Zdolshek Earns ECAC West Goaltender of the Week Honors

Ed Zdolshek, member of the men's ice hockey team, has earned Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) West Goaltender of the Week Honors. Zdolshek is in his third season as the Golden Flyers' starting goaltender. He was at his best in a win over Brockport as he stopped 23 of 24 shots for a .958 percentage. He had a shutout going until Brockport scored its lone goal with 8:50 left in the third period.

Diego Abreu Earns Empire 8 Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Honor

Diego Abreau has earned Empire 8 Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honor. Abreu, a freshman goalkeeper, made 23 saves as the Golden Flyers split a pair of games.

Dan Burke, member of the men's swimming and diving team, has been named Nazareth College's Athlete of the Week for the week ending 11/3/2014 as well as Empire 8 Men's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week for the period ending 11/2/2014.

Christine Belding Earns Two Athletic Honors

Christine Belding, member of the women's soccer team, has been named Nazareth College's Athlete of the Week for the week ending 10/27/2014 and Scholar-Athlete of the month for Nazareth. Belding helped Nazareth to a pair of Empire 8 Conference wins as she scored three goals in home-field wins over Alfred and Utica. She scored twice in the Golden Flyers' 6-1 win over Alfred and also contributed Nazareth's first goal in a 3-0 win over Utica.

Michaela Soules Named One of Nazareth College's Athletes of the Week

Michaela Soules, member of the women's soccer team, has been named one of Nazareth College's Athletes of the Week for the week ending 10/13/2014. Soules had a goal and added two assists in a 3-1 home-field victory over Hartwick. She set up Nazareth's first two goals, each on crossing passes to Christine Belding. She later scored Nazareth's third goal as she headed in a corner kick off the foot of Courtney Malia.

Olivia Harrigan Named One of Nazareth College's Athletes of the Week

Olivia Harrigan, member of the women's volleyball team, has been named one of Nazareth College's Athletes of the Week for the week ending 10/13/2014. Harrigan helped the Golden Flyers to four wins in five matches as she posted 45 kills to go with a .312 hitting percentage, 49 digs and 12 blocks. She had 13 kills without a hitting error in 21 attempts (.619) in a four-set win over Rochester. Harrigan added nine kills with 14 digs in a three-set sweep of Whittier.

Catherine Willard Earns Three Athletic Honors

Catherine Willard, member of the women's field hockey team, has been named Nazareth College's Athlete of the Week for the weeks ending 10/20/2014 and 10/27/2014. Willard was also named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Nazareth College Department of Theatre Arts to present I LOVE YOU BECAUSE -- a modern-day musical love story -- with student cast and crew

The Nazareth College Department of Theatre Arts and Theatre League will present I LOVE YOU BECAUSE, a modern-day musical romance, as the second production of their 2014-2015 Season. The show will run November 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 8 p.m.; and November 16 and 23 at 2 p.m., in Studio A48 at Nazareth College Arts Center. The play features an all-student cast and crew.

Ryan Foley Earns Athlete of the Week and Empire 8 Honors

Ryan Foley, member of the men's soccer team, has earned Nazareth College's Athlete of the Week and Empire 8 Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors. Foley was at it again for the Golden Flyers as he scored both goals in a 2-0 Nazareth home-field victory over Utica. First he scored on a penalty kick at 11:04 of the first half. Then, about 12 minutes later, he stole the ball near the top of the Utica box and converted an unassisted goal.

Melissa Stio Earns Italian Women's Civic Club Scholarship

Melissa Stio is a recipient of the 2014 Dante Scholarship Award from the Italian Women's Civic Club (IWCC). Stio will receive an award of $2,700 for her next semester's costs. Recipients are selected from all the eligible candidates by members of the Dante Scholarship Committee. Awards are based on criteria set by the committee and include academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community service, and personal identification with Italian American heritage.

Nazareth College Department of Music to present HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR benefit show featuring student performances

The Nazareth College Department of Music's annual HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR is Saturday, October 25, 2014. The concert will feature faculty and student performers, spooky short stories, and a performance by a local children's chorus. In the spirit of Halloween, guests are encouraged to dress in costume and join the musicians for a post-concert reception. In addition, donations will be accepted for the Pittsford Food Cupboard.

Ryan Foley Named One of Nazareth College's Scholar-Athletes of the Month

Ryan Foley, member of the men's soccer team, has been named one of Nazareth College's Scholar-Athletes of the Month. He leads the Golden Flyers' soccer team in scoring with three goals and two assists despite missing two games with a leg injury. He is tied with teammate James Wheeler as the Golden Flyers' all-time leader in assists with 21. He also has 24 career goals to rank seventh all-time in that category. As a physical therapy major, Foley carries a 3.82 grade-point average.

Kassandra Buseck Earns Nazareth College's Athlete of the Week Honor

Kassandra, Buseck, member of the women's volleyball team, earns Nazareth College's Athlete of the Week honor. Buseck erupted for a career-high 25 kills in a five-set Empire 8 Conference victory over Houghton. She also had two service aces, seven digs and three blocks. She leads the team with 181 kills overall (3.07 per set).

Courtney Malia Named Nazareth's Athlete of the Week

Courtney Malia, member of the women's soccer team, earns Nazareth College's Athlete of the Week honor. Malia recorded a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over St. John Fisher College. The goal was the first of her career and enabled the Golden Flyers to improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in Empire 8 Conference play.

The Nazareth College Department of Theatre Arts and Theatre League will present William Shakespeare's MACBETH October 17-26, 2014 as the first production of their 2014-2015 Season. The play features an all-student cast and crew.

Nate Ripic Named Empire 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Week

Nate Ripic, member of the men's soccer team, has been named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending September 7. Ripic made his first start of the season last Saturday and made eight saves in a 2-0 shutout win over Oswego. At least two of Ripic's saves came on point-blank shots that were deflected over the goal and enabled Nazareth to improve to 2-1 overall.

Maria Allocco Named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week

Maria Allocco, member of the women's volleyball team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the period ending September 7. Last week, she was named to the all-tournament team for the Golden Flyer Invitational as Nazareth won all four of its matches. She totaled 37 kills on 64 swings for a .484 hitting percentage and became the ninth player in Nazareth history to reach 1,000 career kills. She also had 12 service aces, including six in a three-set sweep of RIT.

Brendan Miles Named Athlete of the Week at Nazareth College

Brendan Miles, member of the men's soccer team, has been named Athlete of the Week at Nazareth College for the period ending September 8. Miles had a goal and an assist Saturday as Nazareth blanked Oswego, 2-0, in a non-conference game at Golden Flyer Stadium. He assisted on Mama Amar's goal in the 29th minute to break a scoreless tie and scored off a rebound at the 32-minute mark as Nazareth improved to 2-1 overall. The points were the first of Miles' career.

Catherine Willard Earns Two Athletic Honors

Catherine Willard, members of the women's field hockey team, has recently been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the week for the period ending September 7 and Nazareth College's Athlete of the Week for the period ending September 8. Willard, a junior transfer from Mercyhurst, helped Nazareth even its field hockey record at 2-2 as she tallied two goals and two assists Sunday in a 4-1 win over Ohio Wesleyan.

Shannon Winney, member of the field hockey team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the period ending September 1, 2014. Winney made 11 saves while holding Brockport scoreless as Nazareth opened its 2014 field hockey season with a 2-0 non-conference victory

Nazareth College Students Participate in Summer Research

Seven Nazareth College students spent their summer doing research with Dr. Rich Hartmann. They worked on three projects aimed at improving the efficiency of biodiesel synthesis. Members of the team included Alexander Ballatori, Kevin Denny, Matthew Leverich, Jacob Murray, Kathryn Proe, Jaissy Sekhon, and YashoNandini Singh.

Ryan Foley Named Athlete of the Week at Nazareth College

Ryan Foley, member of the men's soccer team, has recently been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the period ending September 1, 2014. Foley posted two goals and two assists as the Golden Flyers split a pair of weekend games at the 11th annual Doug May Memorial Tournament for men's soccer.
