Luis Rivera Named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College and Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Week

Luis Rivera, member of the men's track and field team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending March 3. Rivera has also been named Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Week for the period ending March 3. Rivera broke his own school record in the weight throw with a second-place finish at the NYSCTC meet at St. Lawrence. Rivera's toss of 16.24 meters (53 feet, 2 1/2 inches) was more than an inch farther than his previous best.

Taylor Pierson Named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College

Taylor Pierson, member of the women's track and field team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending February 24. Pierson shattered her own school record yet again as she won the long jump competition at the RIT Invitational. Pierson leaped 5.73 meters (18 feet, 9 3/4 inches) to take first place and equaled her best outdoor distance from last season.

Jeff Green Named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College

Jeff Green, member of the men's swimming and diving team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending February 24. Green placed third in the 1-meter diving competition with a school-record score of 494.15 at the Upper New York State Swimming and Diving Championships at Ithaca. He also placed sixth in the 3-meter competition with a score of 398.60. He has qualified to compete at the NCAA Regional competition at RIT.

Ben Blasko Named to ECAC Honor Roll

Ben Blasko, member of the men's ice hockey team, has been named to the ECAC Honor Roll for the period ending January 12. Blasko helped the Golden Flyers gain a split of non-conference home games by delivering two goals and two assists. He scored twice in the 4-3 win over Stonehill, including the game-winning score at 10:19 of the third period. He also had an assist in a 5-3 loss to nationally ranked Oswego.

Mark Zavorin Named to ECAC West Honor Roll

Mark Zavorin, member of the men's ice hockey team, has been named to the ECAC West Honor Roll for the period ending February 2. Zavorin ranks third on the team in scoring with 14 points on 4 goals and 10 assists. He leads the Golden Flyers in scoring over his two seasons at Nazareth with 40 points on 16 goals, 24 assists.

Gabrielle LeBihan Named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College

Gabrielle LeBihan, member of the women's track and field team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending January 27. LeBihan ran well for Nazareth at the Spire North Coast Open in Ohio as she finished eighth in the 3,000-meter run. She shattered the eight-year-old school record by nearly 35 seconds with a time of 10:32.14.

Ed Zdolshek Named Athlete of the Week and ECAC Goalie of the Week

Ed Zdolshek, member of the men's ice hockey team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending January 27. Zdolshek was also named ECAC Goalie of the Week for the period ending February 9. He helped the Golden Flyers gain a split of a pair of home conference games against Manhattanville as he amassed 54 saves to go with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage.

Jack Giles Named Athlete of the Week and Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week

Jack Giles, member of the men's basketball team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending February 3. Giles has also been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the period ending February 2. He set a school record by going 13-for-13 from the field for a career-high 38 points in an 87-84 win over St. John Fisher.

Nazareth College Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures to present family performances of ENAMORADOS

The Nazareth College Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures will present ENAMORADOS, an original, multilingual play by the department's chairperson, Dr. Candide Carrasco, and consisting of a cast of Nazareth College students (including several foreign exchange students) and faculty, as well as local actors. The show runs February 28-March 1, 2014 at 8 p.m., and will be performed in English, with some French, Spanish, and Italian.

Lindsey Kelly, member of the women's basketball team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending January 20, 2014. Kelly has also earned the title of Empire 8 Player of the week for the week ending January 26, 2014. She averaged 20.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of home conference games over the weekend.

Students in Nazareth College Department of Theatre Arts' upcoming production of "Quilters" include a fundraiser for Bethany House of Rochester

The Nazareth College Department of Theatre Arts will present "Quilters" February 14-23. Stories from the musical about pioneer life touched the student cast and crew, who incorporated a fundraiser into the production to assist Rochesterians who are struggling this winter. Throughout the show's run, audience members and the public will have the opportunity to bid on handmade quilts - including one stitched by company members - during a silent auction to benefit Bethany House of Rochester.

Maurice Mills, member of the men's basketball team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending January 6, 2014. Mills has earned the Empire 8 Player of the Week title for the week ending January 12, 2014 for outstanding performance over the span of multiple games.

Veronica Peck Named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College

Veronica Peck, member of the women's basketball team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending January 6, 2013. Peck scored a career-high 17 points to lift Nazareth to a 60-52 victory at Houghton. She went 4-for-8 from the field and 9-for-12 from the free-throw line. She made six foul shots in the closing minute to help the Golden Flyers preserve the victory.

Ben Blasko, member of the men's ice hockey team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending January 13, 2014. Blasko scored two goals and added two assists as Nazareth returned to the ice over the weekend and split non-conference home games with Oswego and Stonehill. Blasko had an assist in a 5-3 loss to 10th-ranked Oswego Friday. He added three points (2 goals, 1 assist), including the game-winning goal with 9:41 left in Saturday's 4-3 victory over Stonehill.

Cameron Hess Named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College

Cameron Hess, member of the women's swimming and diving team, has been named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending January 13, 2014. Hess finished first for Nazareth on Saturday in the 1,000-yard freestyle as the Golden Flyers returned to the swimming pool in a dual meet at Fredonia. She posted a winning time of 11:02.14 and also placed third in the 500 free (5:31.63) and fourth in the 200 free (2:06.60).

Dan Burke is Named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College

Dan Burke, member of the men's swimming and diving team, is named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College for the week ending December 10, 2013. He broke his own school record in winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of :51.38, more than three seconds faster than his previous best this season. Burke also finished fifth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:53.21.

The Nazareth College Department of Music's Opera Workshop is pleased to present "Opera Triple Bill" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 23; Friday, January 24; and Saturday, January 25, 2014, in the Callahan Theater at Nazareth College Arts Center. This event is free and open to the public. The program will feature "La Canterina" by Franz Joseph Haydn, "Captain Lovelock" by John Duke, and "The Impressario" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Taylor Pierson is Named Athlete of the Week for Nazareth College

Taylor Pierson, member of the women's track and field team, is named Athlete of the week for the week ending December 10, 2013. Pierson broke her own school record Saturday in the 60-meter dash as Nazareth opened its indoor track and field season at the Brockport Invitational. Pierson ran a time of 8.19 seconds in the prelims to break her record of 8.23 seconds, set last season. She eventually settled for a fourth-place finish. She also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 5.28 meters

Musical theatre majors in the Nazareth College Department of Theatre Arts will present "A Sparklejollytwinklejingley Holiday Winter Wonderland Extravaganza." The show, which captures the holiday spirit and wraps it up neatly in one little bow will be performed on Tuesday, December 10 at 7 p.m. in the Masters Family Community Theater (room A13), located in the lower level of the Nazareth College Arts Center.
