Nazareth celebrates its Centennial in grand style during Naz Weekend, Sept. 20-22
Rochester, NY (09/18/2024) — Nazareth University is celebrating its 100 years in grand style this weekend as its Centennial celebration reaches the pinnacle during Naz Weekend 2024 - held September 20-22. Momentous events include the unveiling of a Centennial history wall on Friday and a Centennial Jubilee on Saturday that premieres a piece of original music by alumnus and Emmy Award-winning composer Jack Allocco, presents the first Nazareth Presidential Medallions of Excellence - and even illuminates the Rochester city skyline in Naz purple!

Friday, Sept. 20: Unveiling of Centennial Wall, 4 p.m. | Nazareth Golisano Academic Center first floor
Nazareth is debuting a Centennial history wall on the first floor of its academic center! It will symbolically represent what Nazareth is now and where the University is going in the next century.
- Media: Park in Q lot and walk around the front of the building and enter double doors (by big white tents).
- Event starts in the Linehan Chapel lobby right inside the front doors of Golisano Academic Center.
Saturday, Sept. 21: Centennial Jubilee, 3 p.m. | Glazer Music Performance Center's Beston Hall
The big show-stopping moment of Nazareth's Centennial is its Jubilee! Highlights include: Nazareth's two most recent past presidents, Daan Braveman (served 2005-2020) and Robert Miller (served 1998-2005), return to campus; more than 100 Nazareth students, faculty, and staff will perform One Hundred Strong, an original musical piece composed and conducted by Emmy Award-winning and Rochester Music Hall of Fame inductee Jack Allocco '72; and Nazareth presents its first Nazareth Presidential Medallions of Excellence to honor the achievements and accomplishments of several notable people who have helped shape Nazareth.
- Media: Park in the Arts Center parking lot (A lot) (the south campus entrance with the stop light off East Avenue)
- two parking spots will be reserved for media near the building - enter the Glazer Music Performance Center.
- Former Nazareth Presidents Daan Braveman and Bob Miller take the stage at approximately 3:10 p.m.
- The musical piece composed and conducted by Jack Allocco '72 and performed by Nazareth ensembles is scheduled to begin at approximately 3:45 p.m.
- The Nazareth Medallions of Excellence recipients are revealed at approximately 4 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 20-Tuesday, Sept. 24: Rochester skyline shines purple
The city of Rochester's skyline will be aglow in Nazareth purple in honor of the University's Centennial! The downtown buildings will shine purple beginning Friday night through Tuesday, Sept. 24 - the actual 100th birthday of Nazareth University.
- Media: DRONE footage of the purple lights downtown will be available on Saturday morning to use in newscasts as vo, bumper shot, or closer. Julie Long will send it to you.
