Nazareth welcomes more than 50 high school students from around the region for a mental health field summit

Rochester, NY (04/28/2025) — Nazareth University welcomes 56 high school students interested in pursuing a career in the mental health field to its campus for a summit. These students are from five school districts - Greece, Dundee, Geneva, Lyons, and Seneca Falls - and are currently enrolled in a Nazareth social work course called Intro to Mental Health Professions at their high school. They will receive college credit after completing the course this spring.

The summit will teach the high school students more about social work, creative arts therapy, music therapy, and psychology.

The job outlook in mental health, according to the Department of Labor, is growing at an above average rate, and research shows the power of exposing students in high school to career paths.
