NAZARETH HOSTS INTERNATIONAL SPECIAL OLYMPICS CHAIRMAN TIM SHRIVER AT GROUNDBREAKING OF GOLISANO TRAINING CENTER, JUNE 14 AT 11 A.M.

Initiative aims to create a new model of innovation and partnership for Healthy Communities across the U.S. and the world

Rochester, NY (06/13/2018) — WHAT: Nazareth College, along with Tom Golisano, Special Olympics International Chairman Tim Shriver, and local Special Olympians, will host a groundbreaking for the new Golisano Training Center. Shriver will speak about the importance of Nazareth's commitment to Special Olympics with the new center. The 91,000-square-foot facility will provide an indoor track, field, courts, and training facilities to promote the fitness and wellness of Nazareth students, while also providing an innovative and inclusive training center that will level the playing field for athletes of all abilities and ages through Nazareth's partnership with the Special Olympics of New York (SONY).

Golisano has given $7.5 million towards the overall cost of $23.5 million for the new training center.

Shriver leads the International Board of Directors of Special Olympics and serves together with over 5.6 million Special Olympics athletes in 172 countries to promote health, education, and a more unified world through the joy of sports.
