NAZARETH COLLEGE WELCOMES NEW STUDENTS FOR MOVE IN DAY, AUGUST 12-13

VIDEO of Move-In AND INTERVIEW with Nazareth College President Beth Paul

Rochester, NY (08/12/2020) — Nazareth College and President Beth Paul welcome the Class of 2024 for Move-in Days on Wednesday and Thursday, August 12-13. Dr. Paul is taking part in her very first move-in at Nazareth College. The incoming first-year class of 500 students persevered through the historic and ongoing pandemic at the end of their high school career, and Nazareth is ensuring that they begin strong for their first year at college, on campus and in person. Nazareth believes in the in-person learning and living environment, so the College has made significant changes and investments for that to happen safely this fall.

Changes include extensive cleaning and sanitation protocols; one-way stairwells and building entrances; required safety training for students, faculty, and staff; daily COVID screening; distribution of masks; and reduced classroom capacity, including additional spaces redesigned and equipped for academics, including outdoor spaces - all to support a high-quality education. The majority of fall semester classes will include in-person learning; course formats include in-person, online, and hybrid (a combination of in-person and online).

The first year students, along with 110 transfer students, will spend Thursday to Saturday participating in in-person orientation, as well as a live, virtual new-student convocation. On Saturday, Nazareth's 29th Annual Orientation Day of Service, will be a combination of opening panel speakers (including Naz students, faculty, staff and community members) and experiential learning, community engaged projects which promote teamwork by applying concepts of civic engagement to community challenges.

The Class of 2024 hails from 23 states, from as far as Alaska, Oregon, and California, to Alabama, Florida, and Georgia, among others.

Returning students move in August 14-15, and all students begin classes on Monday, August 17. The semester starts two weeks early, to finish by Thanksgiving.
