Corrected: The Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department presents annual Spring Dance Concert and MAD (Movement and Dance) Weekend beginning March 31

Featuring more than 30 dance and movement masterclasses and performances open to the public

Rochester, NY (03/08/2017) — The Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department will host its annual Spring Dance Concert (Heather Roffe, artistic director) and  MAD (Movement and Dance) Weekend for area movers and dancers beginning March 31, 2017.

MAD Weekend will offer more than 30 events and dance/movement master classes in a variety of levels and styles over three days for dancers 15 and older. The weekend also includes the department’s annual Spring Dance Concert (March 31 and April 1, 7:30 p.m.) and MAD Artists’ Showcase (April 2, 6:30 p.m.) in Callahan Theatre at the Nazareth College Arts Center.

ARTISTS AND CHOREOGRAPHERS

Guest artists and faculty teaching throughout MAD Weekend include former Nazareth College dance faculty Vanessa Van Wormer, now based in L.A.; Limón Dance Company alum Daniel Fetecua Soto; Broadway choreographer Matthew Steffens; and many more.

The Spring Dance Concert will feature five student-choreographed works by Olivia Bauso, Ally Kadin, Caz Lopata-Linn, Sam Spadafore, Sarah Spina, and Najzma Williams along with five works choreographed by faculty/guest artists Heather Acomb, Lilliana Candotti, Heather Roffe, Matthew Steffens, and Mariko Yamada.

The curated MAD Artists Showcase will feature works by Cameron McKinney, Kizuna Dance (NYC); Sarah Zehnder, Sarah Zehnder Dance (NYC); Meghan McLymon; Kristen Duffy Young; Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp (NY and Boston); Heather Roffe, Heather Roffe Dance (Rochester, NY); Mark Broomfield (Rochester, NY); James Hansen, Assemblage Dance (Rochester, NY/LA, CA); Tammy Carrasco, Wild Beast Dance (Rochester, NY); and Parvatha Chidabaram  (Rochester, NY).

TICKETS

MAD Weekend technique classes cost $5 per class or six classes for $25 (cash only). Groups of ten or  more students will receive a 15% discount.

General admission tickets for both concerts cost $10 (cash only).

Tickets for the classes and concerts may be purchased throughout the weekend starting Friday March 31, at the registration table located in the Nazareth College Arts Center lower lobby, 4245 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14618.
