Nazareth University selected to join Common App's direct admissions program

Nazareth University is one of only 11 colleges and universities in New York to connect more students to postsecondary opportunities

Rochester, NY (11/02/2023) — Nazareth University has been selected as one of just 70 colleges and universities nationwide to join Common App's direct admissions program, which will provide over 200,000 college-interested first-generation and low- and middle-income students with proactive admissions offers. Common App's direct admissions program also includes outreach and resources to families, and to counselors who have students receiving a direct admissions offer.

"Nazareth University is proud to be one of 11 colleges and universities in New York to participate in this initiative," said Danielle Bucci, Nazareth vice president for strategic enrollment, marketing and communications. "Increasing opportunities for first-generation and low-income students has always been part of Nazareth's mission, and Common App's direct admission program expands accessibility and meets the needs of so many students. So, when students get an offer of 'you've been accepted to Nazareth' in the Common App, it is a real offer, and Nazareth is excited to welcome you here."

Students must meet GPA requirements, live in New York state, and have started a Common App to receive an offer of direct admission to Nazareth. The Common App emails eligible students with their direct admission offer with details of how to accept it. If a student chooses to apply with this non-binding admissions offer, they're guaranteed to get in to Nazareth and they don't have to pay an application fee.

"We are excited for Nazareth University to join our direct admissions program, where even more students will now know that they are worthy and wanted on a college campus," said Jenny Rickard, president & chief executive officer of Common App. "Overall, direct admissions is about changing the narrative of a college education from one of scarcity to one of opportunity, by ensuring students know that college opportunity is an abundant resource - and one that's available to them."

About Common App

Common App is a not-for-profit member organization committed to the pursuit of access, equity, and integrity in the college admission process. Each year, more than one million students apply to college through the Common App's online application. In January 2019, the Common App united with Reach Higher, the college access and success campaign started by former First Lady Michelle Obama during her time at the White House. By joining forces, Common App and Reach Higher accelerated progress toward our joint goal of supporting all students, especially low-income and first-generation students, in achieving their higher education dreams.
