Nazareth Spring Dance Concert explores the human condition through movement

Rochester, NY (03/21/2018) — Established and emerging artists will come together for two nights of extraordinary dance representing diverse styles at the Nazareth College Theatre and Dance Department's Spring Dance Concert, From Our Corners and Edges. Faculty, students, and guest artists will premiere new choreography that explores the human condition at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31 in Callahan Theater, located on the campus of Nazareth College at 4245 East Avenue, Rochester, 14618.

From Our Corners and Edges features a premiere piece by Chicago-based guest artist Jenny Showalter of Treeline Dance Works, as well as new faculty work by Hettie Barnhill, Paige Cummings, and Heather Roffe Wiktorski. Six student choreographers will also premiere works during the concert: Amya Brice '21, Caz Lopata-Linn '20, Jake Smith '18, Sarah Spina '19, Sam Spadafore '18, and Dwight Young '21.

"Each choreographer has a unique perspective, from their particular corner of lived experience," says Heather Roffe Wiktorski, associate professor of dance. "The works in this year's dance concert present multiple viewpoints on the state of our world -some are celebratory, some are poignant and thought-provoking, and some are outright direct and edgy in their statement for change and social justice."

From Our Corners and Edges provides audiences with a captivating experience that brings together a diverse group of dance artists in a unique exploration of the human condition through dance.
