NATIONAL BUBBLE WRAP DAY MEANS POPPIN' FUN WITH PERCUSSION AT NAZARETH COLLEGE

Monday, January 31 at 2:30 p.m.

Rochester, NY (01/28/2022) — Monday, January 31, is National Bubble Wrap Day and some percussion students at Nazareth College's School of Music are celebrating with a fun and poppin' musical experiment!

They decided to test out how the bubble wrap would add fun flair to the sound of several different percussion instruments such as a timpani, chimes, and more.

The students in this class are music therapy majors at Nazareth, so this experiment turned into more than just popping bubble wrap. This activity is relevant to the study of music therapy for several reasons. Practitioners are expected to be responsive to clients' needs in the moment; to be adaptable, creative, and collaborative in their work. It is also a wonderful learning opportunity because music therapists often need to use everyday objects or whatever is on hand to engage their clients in music.

In addition, Nazareth students can take part in a bubble wrap "power hour" in the Dining Commons - bubble wrap will be available for students to grab a square of bubble wrap and get popping to relieve stress and have fun.

Fun Fact:How did this bubble-licious holiday begin? A radio station once inadvertently unwrapped microphones on the air and listeners loved it! Learn more about National Bubble Wrap Day
