Changemaker Conference at Nazareth Feb. 17 Explores Equity

Social innovators from Rochester community focus on anti-racist education, access to employment, post-incarceration re-entry, and public health

Rochester, NY (02/16/2023) — WHAT: Nazareth students are developing their skills as changemakers by learning from some of Rochester's equity-minded social innovators at an annual Nazareth Changemaker Conference. This half-day conference enables the social innovators to share knowledge and skills of changemaking and provide an experiential learning opportunity to brainstorm approaches to some pressing local and global challenges. Rochester innovators on the opening panel moderated by Nazareth President Beth Paul include:

Precious Bedell of the Rochester Education Justice Initiative. She works with formerly incarcerated individuals to overcome obstacles related to housing, employment, health insurance, and family reunification and support.

Stephen Bryant, of TogetherNow, a countywide initiative to better the human service experience. He previously was the City of Rochester's first re-entry coordinator, helping people transition from incarceration to freedom.

Her experience is centered in social, environmental, and economic justice in urban communities from Oakland, California, to Washington, D.C., to the South Bronx.
