ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

Tribes tells the story of Billy, who was born deaf into a hearing Jewish-British family. He was raised inside its fiercely idiosyncratic and politically incorrect cocoon and has adapted brilliantly to his family's unconventional ways, but they've never bothered to return the favor. Its not until he meets Sylvia, a young woman on the brink of deafness, that he finally understands what it means to be understood.

Nina Raines critically acclaimed play received a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play, a New York Drama Critics Circle Award, and an Off-Broadway Alliance Best Play Award, and has been nominated for countless more.
