Benedict Named E8 Women's Basketball Rookie Of The Week

Nazareth freshman forward Rachel Benedict has been named the Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, for the week ending November 20. Benedict, from Brockport, started her career for the Golden Flyers with a bang, helping Nazareth claim the championship of the Buffalo State Tournament. She was named tournament MVP after averaging 21 points and 13.5 rebounds in wins over Thiel and Buffalo State. She scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a 67-53 win over Thiel on Friday and then combined 17 points with 14 rebounds in Saturday's come-from-behind win over Buffalo State. She also shot .515 from the field (17-for-33) and hit three 3-point baskets.
