Nazareth Alumnus Jack Allocco Wins 11th Daytime Emmy Award for CBS Soap 'Bold and the Beautiful' Music

Rochester, NY (05/01/2018) — Nazareth College can say "11 time Emmy-award winner" as it introduces alumnus Jack Allocco when he returns to campus this fall to premier an original composition at the gala opening of the Glazer Music Performance Center.

Allocco, who is also on Nazareth's Board of Trustees, was honored with the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for a Drama Series for his work with CBS' The Bold and The Beautiful. The show, which honors daytime television programming crafts and is put on by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, was held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium one week before the 45th annual Daytime Emmy Awards. The Bold and the Beautiful led the way with HBO's Sesame Street with seven wins apiece at the Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

Jack Allocco's career path nearly looked a lot different. He started college as an accounting major before transferring to Nazareth and becoming the first male student to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Music from the College in 1972. He started his career at a piano bar around the corner from Warner Brothers studio in Hollywood and worked freelance projects before being brought on full-time by CBS.

"Nazareth gave me the music education I absolutely wasn't qualified to get. But they took me in and I did a lot of hard work to catch up. The education I received was in no small way the reason for why I have been a successful composer."

There's no doubting Allocco's talent, as he has scored more than 12,000 hours of network TV with appearances on The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless.

Allocco's piece for the Glazer Music Performance Hall Gala will premier on September 22.
